I had a discussion a couple of years ago with someone quite religious and active within their church, who mentioned the disturbing rate of divorce among church members. I've speculated myself that churches with strong emotionalism underlying their services and worship are perhaps more prone to marital instability among members. I'm not saying I think divorce is rampant in every Pentecostal-style church, all the time. I'm just suggesting that within such a community, the potential for emotional bonds to develop among members that can undermine a marriage are more probable. As such, it shouldn't be surprising to find higher divorce rates among Evangelical Christians (or any group with similar emotionalism) than among other groups.
